Present at the 17th Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) 2025

From January 15 to 18, Berlin hosted the 17th Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) under the theme “Cultivating a Sustainable Bioeconomy.” This international event, organized by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL), annually brings together leaders from politics, business, science, and civil society to discuss major challenges in global agricultural policy and food security. Within this framework, the Uruguayan-German Dialogue on Agriculture (DAUA) had a prominent participation in various activities.

DAUA showcased its Component 1: Micro2Health at a joint booth with IAK and JKI. The German implementers from the Julius Kühn-Institut (JKI) and the Uruguayan representative from INIA Uruguay, Dr. Carolina Leoni, explained and answered questions from numerous interested attendees. This booth served as a meeting point for various sector stakeholders and was honored by high-level visits, including Claudia Müller, BMEL's Deputy Minister, and Fernando Mattos, Uruguay’s Minister of Livestock, Agriculture, and Fisheries (MGAP).

Additionally, the bilateral meeting between Uruguay and Germany, attended by Minister Mattos, the Uruguayan Ambassador to Germany, Fernando Lopéz Fabregat, Deputy Minister Claudia Müller, and key representatives from both countries, included the participation of our Project Leader, Dagmar Wittine. During this meeting, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to international cooperation in agricultural innovation.

By invitation of BMEL and GFA Consulting Group GmbH (GFA), within their networking framework among BMEL-funded projects worldwide (Cluster Meeting), DAUA presented some milestones achieved during its first year and upcoming activities scheduled for 2025. This opportunity helped create and strengthen connections with global key players.

In another area, DAUA established contact with the New Zealand-Germany Climate and Agriculture Dialogue (AgriDENZ project) through a presentation by INIA scientist Dr. Virginia Pravia at the International Expert Panel: “Cultivating a Greener Future: Towards Sustainable Biomass Use for Carbon Sequestration.”

In this way, DAUA reinforces its commitment to innovation, regional and global communication, promoting knowledge exchange and scientific results through dialogue formats that foster more sustainable agricultural systems.
