Bio- inputs in Uruguay: progress, challenges and opportunities for adoption

The Uruguayan-German Dialogue on Agriculture (DAUA) presented an update of the report on the use of bioinputs in extensive crops in Uruguay, with the aim of providing information on the current situation, as well as identifying opportunities and challenges for their development and adoption.

The study was prepared by the consultants Santiago Alvarez Durán and Nicolás Rubio Cat for DAUA, and analyzes different aspects related to the use of bioinputs in the country's agricultural systems. Among them, the levels of adoption registered, the main constraints identified by the actors in the sector and the existing opportunities to strengthen their implementation stand out.

Bio Brazil Fair 2026: strengthening regional dialogue on certification, trade and sustainability

From 10 to 13 June 2026, the Uruguayan-German Dialogue on Agriculture (DAUA) participated in the Bio Brazil and Naturaltech Fair 2026, one of Latin America's leading events on organic production, sustainability and innovation, held in São Paulo, Brazil.

In this context, DAUA also facilitated the participation of Fabiana Osorio, Head of the Commercial Promotion Division of the General Directorate of Farm Production of the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries (DIGEGRA-MGAP), in the panel "From Agroecology to the Global Market: Certification, Cooperation and Sustainable Development". Together with Alexander Borges Rose, Director of the Agricultural Policy Dialogue Brazil-Germany (APD Brasil-Alemanha), Hugo Corales, Commercial Director of ProChile, and Ricardo Hachuy, Commercial Manager at QIMA, who moderated the session, they shared experiences and perspectives.

An Invisible Universe Beneath Our Feet: New DAUA Video on Soil Health

Beneath our feet lies an invisible universe that is fundamental to life, production, and the balance of ecosystems. Microorganisms, biodiversity, and biological processes that are invisible to the naked eye sustain essential functions for agriculture, environmental health, and processes related to carbon capture and sequestration in soils.

In this context, the Uruguayan-German Dialogue on Agriculture (DAUA) presents a new video aimed at highlighting different aspects of soil health, integrating testimonies from researchers and visual resources that help explain the importance of these invisible biological processes.
