At a time when agricultural sustainability is becoming increasingly crucial, understanding the role of microorganisms in a living soil is of great importance.
In this regard, we are pleased to share an article by Ignacio Sommer, Sustainability Specialist of the Uruguayan-German Dialogue on Agriculture (DAUA), published in the magazine Sustentabilidad en Acciones (SEA).

From November 11 to 13, we participated in this important event under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water, and Forests of the Kingdom of Morocco, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Germany (BMEL). The conference was organized by the Moroccan-German Agricultural and Forestry Technical Dialogue Project (Projet DIAF), aiming to strengthen the competitiveness of organic agriculture through a platform for dialogue, the integration of scientific advancements, and the development of public policies to promote sustainable food systems.

On November 13 and 14, Montevideo became the epicenter of debate and innovation in bioinputs during the 2nd Pan-American Forum on Bioinputs. Experts from across the region addressed key challenges and opportunities for the development of bioinputs in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), a topic of growing importance in the transition toward sustainable agriculture.

During these events, we attended the seminar “The Use of Bioinputs to Mitigate the Negative Effects of Extreme Climatic Events in Agriculture,” organized by the Bioinputs Working Group of the Cooperative Program for Agricultural and Agroindustrial Technology Development in the Southern Cone (PROCISUR) and the National Center for Bioinputs of Chile (CeNBI). It was an ideal space to learn about key research from various institutions, open doors to future collaborations, and delve deeper into the needs of the sector.

From September 2 to 6, a study trip (FIF) to Germany took place, jointly organized by the Bilateral Cooperation Projects (BKP) funded by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) in Argentina and Uruguay. The goal was to explore collaboration opportunities among the three countries and to understand Germany’s experiences with the development and regulation of bioinputs, which are crucial for agricultural sustainability.

The recent workshop on Sustainable Agriculture and Biological Transformation was a resounding success, with massive attendance reaffirming the interest and relevance of these topics. This event, held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, under the framework of the German-Argentine Dialogue on Sustainable Agricultural Innovations (DAAIAS), the Uruguayan-German Dialogue on Agriculture (DAUA), and Aapresid (Argentine No-Till Farmers Association), brought together top-tier experts from Argentina, Uruguay, and Germany.

This Monday and Tuesday, the Uruguayan-German Dialogue on Agriculture (DAUA) had the honor of hosting two prominent German experts in the field of bioinputs: Johannes A. Jehle (Julius Kühn-Institut) and Andrea Rossbach (tier3 solutions GmbH).
This exchange of ideas and experiences brought together key strategic actors from Uruguay to discuss the present and future of bioinputs.

On Tuesday, April 23rd, during the official visit to Uruguay by the Deputy Minister of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Germany (BMEL), Ms. Claudia Müller, we had the honor of launching and inaugurating the office of the Uruguayan-German Agricultural Dialogue (DAUA).

The first Steering Group (PSG) meeting of the Uruguayan-German Agricultural Dialogue (DAUA) was held at the central office of the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture, and Fisheries (MGAP). During this meeting, the project partners—the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Germany (BMEL), MGAP, Julius Kühn Institute (JKI), and the National Institute of Agricultural Research (INIA)—exchanged views and reached agreements on the operational plan as well as the priority topics to be addressed during the first year of implementation.
