DAUA Webinar Series: Knowledge Exchange Between Uruguay and Germany
During November and December 2025, we held two virtual events that strengthened technical exchange and cooperation between both countries. These meetings brought together specialists from the public, private, and academic sectors, with the goal of deepening innovative approaches and sharing useful learnings for the agricultural sectors of Uruguay and Germany.
Webinar: “Carbon Farming and the Private Sector in Agriculture: Experiences from Uruguay and Germany”
On November 12, a webinar was held focusing on practical approaches and carbon standards applied to regenerative agriculture. Experts from both countries presented progress in soil carbon certification, the functioning of MRV systems (measurement, reporting, and verification), and the implementation of international frameworks such as ISO standards.
The meeting highlighted concrete experiences from the private sector and facilitated discussion on current challenges for promoting more sustainable production models aligned with international market demands.
Webinar: “Agricultural Policy, Science and Extension in Germany and Uruguay”
On December 10, a webinar was held to provide an insight into the structure and functioning of the German and Uruguayan Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation System (AKIS), and its coordination among authorities, scientific institutions, educational centers, companies, and agricultural organizations.
Panelists explored:
-The roles and coordination between agricultural policy and science in Germany.
-The general structure of the German AKIS, with emphasis on education and advisory services.
-A review of Uruguay’s institutional structure for research and extension.
- Comparative lessons and possibilities for transferability between both contexts.
This event offered a comprehensive view of how various actors contribute—each from their respective roles—to strengthening agricultural innovation and generating solutions to current challenges.
