Reflections after the Roundtable on Bio-inputs at Expoactiva 2025

Last Saturday, March 22, the Uruguayan-German Dialogue on Agriculture (DAUA) took part in the roundtable “Bio-inputs: Present and Future”, held within the framework of the 2025 National Expoactiva (Uruguay). This event was organized by the Uruguayan Association for No-Tillage Farming (AUSID) and the Soriano Rural Association, and was moderated by Ignacio Sommer from the DAUA team.

The meeting fostered a valuable exchange on the challenges and opportunities of bio-inputs in Uruguay. Among the main topics discussed were:

  • The need to consider bio-inputs as key tools for agronomic management, capable of promoting overall soil health and contributing to more sustainable agriculture.
  • The importance of advancing training and education on bio-inputs, both at technical and tertiary levels, as well as in their direct implementation in the field.
  • The challenges related to competitiveness in the production and commercialization of bio-inputs at the national level.

The active participation of the audience and the enriching contributions of the panelists highlighted the growing interest within the agricultural sector in adopting biological solutions to drive sustainable production.
